The BSD communications team helps spread the word about news and research across the Biological Sciences Division, Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago Medicine health system. We produce a variety of content and provide guidance on communications strategies, including:
- News stories and press releases
- Internal announcements and newsletters
- Website content
- Event listings
- Media relations
We work closely with communications colleagues in the UChicago Medicine Marketing and Communications department, the UChicago News Office, other university academic divisions, and our national laboratory affiliates to coordinate and amplify news coverage.

Publication deadlines
Our team routinely works with pre-release manuscripts and coordinates with scientific journal editorial teams to produce embargoed press releases. Please contact us as soon as possible if you have a paper of interest accepted by a journal. We require at least one week of advance notice before the *online* (not print) publication date to ensure that we can issue a press release on the day of publication and maximize media potential.
The BSD Science Life newsletter is published every other week on Thursdays. Please share your announcements and event information at least two weeks in advance to make sure we can include it in a timely manner.
